Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) spoke on the House floor earlier this month about the need to cancel student loan debt. Lee said that one of the reasons she is interested in a commission to study slavery reparations is to look more closely at the populations today that are negatively hampered by student loan debt.
