Officials started Thursday morning to count hundreds of thousands of mail-in ballots in the 2022 Maryland primary election, which could finally determine winners in some of the biggest remaining races. Some 500,000 mail-in ballots were sent to voters who requested them. It was not immediately known how many were returned as of Thursday. By law, those ballots couldn’t be counted until Thursday morning.
