Rand Paul Introduces Amendment To Oust “Petty Tyrant” From NIAID

Julia Manchester and Emily Jashinsky react to Senator Rand Paul’s efforts to remove Dr. Fauci as head of the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Disease.

The study referenced by Sen. Rand Paul is authored by Jonas Herby, Lars Jonung, and Steve H. Hanke. They allege that “meta-analysis fails to confirm that lockdowns have had a large, significant effect on mortality rates”
According to the CDC, isolation is used to separate people with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 from those without COVID-19. People who are in isolation should stay home until it’s safe for them to be around others.

The World Health Organization states that “large scale physical distancing measures and movement restrictions, often referred to as ‘lockdowns’, can slow COVID‑19 transmission by limiting contact between people.”

On January 4, CDC updated COVID-19 isolation and quarantine recommendations with shorter isolation (for asymptomatic and mildly ill people) and quarantine periods of 5 days to focus on the period when a person is most infectious, followed by continued masking for an additional 5 days. These updated recommendations also facilitate individual social and well-being needs, return to work, and maintenance of critical infrastructure.
